Six months ago, we started on a mission to make the lives of 2,000 area cats safer.

How did we do it? With microchips!

A microchip is a permanent form of pet ID. It is about the size of a grain of rice, and injected beneath the surface of your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. While collars and tags are a GREAT idea, if they ever fall off and someone finds a lost pet, a vet or shelter can scan the chip and find the contact information of the owner.

Currently, despite active efforts to encourage people to search for their lost pets as well as encouraging identification, less than 1% of cats are reunited with their owners.

We hope that these 2,000 microchips will mean 2,000 more cats that will make it home if they ever get lost. If you missed out on this free microchip promotion, you can take advantage of our low-cost microchip and vaccine Protect a Pet clinics this summer. Click here for more information.
