Blue Belle (formerly Bluebell) now has a permanent home in addition to her part-time firehouse. This comes three months after you assisted the Dearborn Heights Fire Department (DHFD) with her care. You don’t realize what a lifeline this was!

Because of you, firefighters received everything Blue Belle might need. This included food, toys, treats, medicine, and a kennel. All they had to do was provide the love, which you can see them doing in this TV news segment.

Firefighter, Adam Kowalski of Plymouth (pictured with wife, Kathryn, on left and Fire Chief, David Brogan on right) adopted Blue Belle on July 13, despite a previous injury. You see, one of the puppy’s legs is shorter and more curved than her others. Veterinarians believe this condition resulted from a fracture she suffered before arriving at the nonprofit. They needed time to see if Blue Belle would avoid using her leg, or worse yet, suffer pain from it. Now all she feels is love, especially when Kowalski works another 24-hour shift.

Yet another heroic rescue by the brave men and women at DHFD — and you.
