It’s kitten season! Every year, Michigan Humane sees a big rise in the cat population during the spring and summer time resulting in countless kittens surrendered. This puts a huge strain on our resources, which is why we are holding a Kitten Shower on Saturday, June 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at our Berman Center for Animal Care in Westland. Our goal is to find more loving foster homes for the newborn kittens.

Most of the kittens that are brought to Michigan Humane during this time are still too small to be put up for adoption. Fosters are a tremendous help in giving them some extra TLC and allowing for additional space in the shelters. All the necessary supplies to foster—like food and litter—are provided by Michigan Humane. The fosters supply the love!

The event on June 15 will feature food, games and a presentation about the foster-care program on how you can help care for new feline fosters. Like any baby shower, there is a Kitten Shower registry that you can find HERE listing items that are a great help to care for newborn kittens, such as nursing kits and kitten formula. Attendees that bring their receipt will be able to adopt a feline for free.

Please come join us in helping our kitten friends find caring foster homes. And who knows, you may decide that fostering is for you!

You can RSVP at michiganhumane.org/kittenshower.

If you cannot attend but are still interested in fostering, please visit the Michigan Humane foster page to find out how you can get involved.
