The U.S. Coast Guard station in Marquette, Mich. advanced the ranks of two important members at its station: former shelter dogs Thor and Loki.
As MLive reports, Thor and Loki are Vizla-Lab mixes who were “promoted” to petty officers third class during a ceremony at Station Marquette. The two pups were honored in recognition of their contributions to the community they serve. They even received certificates and pins as proof of their new ranks.
Thor and Loki were adopted by the U.S. Coast Guard Station Marquette from the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter and live at the station full-time. According to MLive, UPAWS rescued the dogs from a shelter in Missouri a day before they were scheduled to be euthanized.
Now Thor and Loki get to greet people at station events and regularly appear on the station’s Facebook page.
