Update: According to WXYZ’s Twitter page, the owner of the German Shepherds has been found.

Motorists on the Lodge Freeway in Detroit found an interesting sight during their commute early Wednesday morning: three German Shepherds wandering the Lodge.

As the Detroit Free Press reports, the strays were found near Forest Ave close to Midtown. Fortunately it seems the dogs were in good health as Michigan State Police rescued them with the help of residents at approximately 3:30 a.m. MSP tweeted a photo of the dogs with a couple of state troopers.

The German Shepherds have yet to be claimed and are being evaluated by a local shelter. Contact MSP’s Metro South Post at 734-287-5000 for more information.

And please remember to keep your pets secured, ID’d and microchipped. Michigan Humane’s veterinary clinics offer affordable microchip implants to help recover your pets should they become lost.
