Beagles and coonhounds and plotthounds oh my! Hound type dogs are taking over the Michigan Humane Society!

While MHS recommends judging each dog as an individual, scent hounds as a general group of dogs are known for using their noses and having a keen interest in small critters like squirrels and rabbits. Many of them like to use their voices as well! But at the same time, they can be the sweetest dogs and best pets you’ll ever meet!

We have a great collection of hounds to suit the tastes of any dog lover, particularly ones with a fondness for soft, droopy ears and long, wagging tails!

Teddy is a six year old Plott Hound mix who is sweet and active, but can be a little more timid. He previously lived with another dog, but prefers to be around calmer dogs. You can meet him at our Berman Center for Animal Care.

Buddy, a three year old Beagle, is a very energetic man. He would benefit greatly from an active family who will take him on multiple walks daily and help him learn his doggy manners. Due to his energy level he can be a bit much for some other dogs and should meet other dogs in the household before going home. You can meet him at our Berman Center for Animal Care.

Roger is a sweet two year old Beagle. He is very cooperative and gentle but can be a busy boy at times! You can meet Roger at our Petco adoption center in Sterling Heights.

Hen is a five year old Coonhound who was treated for heartworm. Heartworm is a potentially deadly disease, and treatment is difficult, but she has now been treated and is ready for her forever home! Hen is a very sweet, goofy, energetic and playful girl. She loves attention and gives kisses. You can meet her at our Berman Center for Animal Care.

Marty McFly is a very sweet, affectionate, energetic dog. He is a one year old Treeing Walker Coonhound. You can meet him at our Petco adoption center in Sterling Heights.

Gus is a two year old hound mix. He is a very active, happy, affectionate dog. He doesn’t quiet know his own size and may intimidate or knock over small children. You can meet him at our Petco adoption center in Sterling Heights.

Benny is a very cute six year old Beagle. He is a bit chubby and needs someone who will help him trim down for the sake of his health. He is a very active older gentleman. He likes to get pets and sit with you, but only on his own terms. Due to Benny’s activeness and older age he must go to a home with older children.
